Birthday cake with a 10 candle

The Trafford Centre celebrates its 10th Birthday this year!

The Trafford Centre is 10 years old this September and as part of the celebrations we want to know what are your favourite memories of the Centre.

Were you here on opening day? Have you found an amazing buy while shopping at the Centre? Who have you met here? Do you, or have you, worked at the Centre?

We'd like to hear all your stories, memories and even pictures you may have and the best will be published in our 10th Birthday Celebration pages right here on the website.

Siobhan - My first memory of The Trafford Centre was as a plan on a piece of paper in our Geography lesson and we had to study the environmental and social impacts that it would play on the new upcoming area of Dumplington. I don't think anyone predicted the success of the Centre and I still enjoy going there to this day.

Liddy - My favourite memory of The Trafford Centre is buying a bag of banana toffee from Thorntons with my nan when I was little. It was like a second home to me, we went every week.

Clare - My earliest memories of The Trafford Centre are coming shopping with my 18 month old daughter in a dry, clean, fantastic environment. Fab baby changing/feeding places - nowhere else could even compare. And what's more a great selection of shops to suit all ages. I still love it now.

Vee - I remember that I had been watching it’s construction with mounting excitement. On opening day I took a days leave and I remember how we cheered as the doors to Selfridges slid up for the first time! I went back three times that day, once with my son and then with my partner and son and we had a dramatic tea in the Rainforest Café!

Benedict - The stunning Orient is the best that I’ve ever seen, and I’m comparing it with the likes of Disney and Cunard cruise line.

Jo - I have been coming to the Centre for eight years. I come every year with a friend for a four night stay just before Christmas. We buy all our pressies in one go, wrap them and tag them and bag them. Job done in one fell swoop and we love it!

Carol - My daughter will be ten in September and is spending her birthday at The Trafford Centre. This is quite apt as the first place she was taken to when she was a few days old was The Trafford Centre as it had just opened. We were so impressed by the facilities for parents and friendliness of staff that we have been very regular visitors and it is our favourite place for shopping and eating out. Happy 10th Birthday

Catherine and Georgina - My daughter was two when The Trafford Centre opened and we used to visit the area outside the Rainforest restaurant, which had an alligator (very realistic for a two year old!) and live parrots. Then we had to do the singing bears, the dancing fountain and eventually we got to do some shopping! Happy times and free entertainment too - thank you Trafford Centre!

Pamela - My son was born on the 3 September 1998 when The Trafford Centre opened making them very poignant memories. I adore the architecture of The Trafford Centre and all the illuminations at Christmas.

Taiba - The opening was a speculator event. Thousands came to see the best shopping centre in Europe (the world even) and still do to this date.

Si - One of my favourite memories of The Trafford Centre are the firework displays of 2004 and 2005. Fantastic, entertainment was great, kids absolutely loved it, and I will always remember those times.
