entertained we’re here to make sure visiting the
Centre as a family is a pleasure.

Help for parents

Pushchairs, fun buggies, security wristbands and toddler wristlinks

Make shopping with the children easier and safer with security wristbands, toddler wrist links and even pushchairs for your convenience if required.

Toddler wristlinks and security wristbands are available from the Customer Services Desk in the Main Dome. Deposit required for toddler wristlinks.

Pushchairs

Pushchairs are available from the Customer Service Desk in the Main Dome. Pushchairs cost £2 per hour to hire, a refundable £20 deposit as well as ID is required and a height restriction applies.

Fun buggies

Fun buggies are also available at £3 per hour from the Customer Services Desk on lower Peel Avenue. A returnable £20.00 deposit and suitable identification is required (height restriction applies).      

Child Safety

Tips for parents

• Teach your child to recite their name, address and telephone number.
• Download the Barney Bear Safety Leaflet and read through it with your child, filling in the spaces for guardian’s name and contact number.
• Sew or write their surnames only in any clothing – or you can download Barney’s Safety ID Wristband and use that instead.
• Encourage young children to stay close and hold your hand or trolley.
• Pushchairs, wristlinks and ID bands are available free of charge from the Customer Services Desk in the main dome.
• Make sure that children know that The Trafford Centre staff wear red jackets or waistcoats and also gold name badges.
• If you have lost a child inside a store, enquire at the nearest till. If on the malls ask a member of The Trafford Centre staff or at the Customer Services Desk in the main dome.
• Children remain your responsibility. Please DO NOT leave them unsupervised, especially when using lifts and escalators and near fountains and water features.

If you are little and lost

• STOP, stand still and LOOK around. DO NOT run around.
• If you see the person you came with, go straight back to them and hold their hand.
• If you cannot see the person you came with go straight to the till if you are in a shop.
• If you are out in the malls look for a member of The Trafford Centre staff who has a red jacket and name badge on.
• If you have a Barney Bear Passport, look at the map and try to find Barney’s friends, who will be able to help you. Remember that Barney’s friends all wear red jackets, or waistcoats. Perhaps you can see one of Barney’s friends on the Malls? They can help you if you are lost.

Barney Bear Wristband

You can download the Barney Bear Wristband here, and fill it in at home with your details. Make sure your child wears this wristband during your visit.

Barney Bear Safety Passport

Or you can download and fill in the Barney Bear Safety Passport here. This is a simplified guide for parents and children, and carries a child-friendly map. Make sure your child carries this during their visit to the Centre.

Creche & Play Area

Welcome to The Trafford Centre's newly refurbished Crèche and Play Area.

Crèche

The Crèche is where children from 2 to 7 may be cared for by fully qualified and professionally trained staff.

Youngsters will be so busy playing with the wide variety of toys, games and equipment available, that they probably won’t notice that mum and dad have gone shopping. But if there is a problem, don’t worry our trained staff are always available to help.

Equipment includes: Educational toys, Little Tikes toys, adventure play structure, ball pool & slide, non-violent Sega, Nintendo and Playstation games, playdough, painting, sand play and a home corner.

Play Area


The play area is where children aged 0 - 10 inclusive may play under their parent’s or adult guardian’s supervision. A height restriction of 5ft. applies.

There will be experienced staff monitoring the play equipment, seating for parent and guardian spectators and refreshments available.

Equipment includes: A huge ball pool, slides, climbing nets, tube crawls, rope swings etc. For children under 6 there is a dedicated Little Tikes play area.

Barney Bear

The Trafford Centre has everything to keep your little (and not so little!) ones entertained with our loveable character, Barney Bear permanently in residence.

He's the one in the flash red car. Meet him out on the malls everyday at 2pm and 4pm by the Customer Service Desk on lower Peel Avenue.

He's so popular he even has his own club - just for kids!

Children’s Entertainment

The Trafford Centre Singing Bears are back!

The ever-popular singing bears are back from their holidays and have settled in to their new home in Barton Square where they're entertaining young and old alike with their repertoire of family favourites. Don't miss them!

Starfish face painter

Mums and dads why not take the kids along to our fabulous face painter situated behind the Big Screen in The Orient on the upper level. Kids can have their faces painted to a variety of colours and designs. This popular service is great value and the kids really enjoy the experience.

ODEON Cinema 



The Trafford Centre is also home to the biggest multiplex cinema in the UK. The 20 screen ODEON Cinema always has something for the children on offer. Click here for cinema information and find out what's on this week.

Namco Station 


Your day out at The Trafford Centre needn't end there! Namco Station in The Orient offers the latest in state-of-the-art games and entertainment from cosmic bowling to the fastest bumper cars in Europe and hi-tech video games.

Laser Quest & The Rock



Laser Quest & The Rock is the world's most advanced version of the popular and exciting Laser Tag game. Also, there's The Rock climbing wall for one to two players of all ages and abilities, where players have to climb against the ever-moving rock. Laser Quest also runs themed parties.

Paradise Island Adventure Golf

Prepare to experience something pretty unique, with two 18 hole indoor golf courses set amidst a tropical paradise. Putt your way past mystical stone carvings and tropical tiki huts.

LEGOLAND®  Discovery Centre

This unique, indoor attraction features over two million LEGO bricks. Perfect for children aged three to 12 years, the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is like jumping into a giant box of LEGO.

Parties

The Trafford Centre Crèche & Play Area is the perfect venue for children's parties and is ideal for birthdays, Christmas, playgroups and school parties.

We can cater for parties of 8-40 children from age 2 to 10 years. You are welcome to bring your own food. Please ask for details. The price includes a party bag but not a cake.

You will have a fun packed hour of play plus exclusive use of a party room for 3/4 hour. The whole party lasts 2 hours. No helium balloons are allowed at children’s parties.

Prices

Birthday Parties £5 plus food cost per child for 2 hours term-time.

Weekends, school holidays and bank holidays £5.50

Food orders for your party

Choose from a delicious selection of restaurants, who can supply your party food. Some will deliver to the Creche and Play Area, please ask for further details and for prices.

Breastfeeding Facilities

The Trafford Centre prides itself on being a breast-feeding friendly venue accredited by the NHS.

Our dedicated breast-feeding rooms can be found in each of the main toilet blocks on site and are clean and quiet rooms for those parents and babies who prefer to feed in private. Download a Mall Map here.

Breastfeeding room

The main breast-feeding room in The Orient has been designed by home store Laura Ashley of Barton Square, to be a calming and attractive environment in which to take baby. We hope to roll out these designer rooms in the future, to show our commitment to our youngest visitors. Read more about the Breastfeeding Room here.

Of course, like many mums we believe that breast-feeding is appropriate almost anywhere, so do feel free to feed your baby on our benches, in our dining areas, etc, if you prefer.
