Ground Breaking Young Driver Safety Initiative Comes to The Trafford Centre

A revolutionary new driving education programme is coming to The Trafford Centre in January.

The SEAT Young Driver Programme teaches 11-17 year olds the craft of driving carefully before they’re old enough to legally take to the open road.

SKILLS: Young driver at the wheel.Research shows that accident rates among early drivers are slashed by as much as 40% if they’re exposed to driving tuition when they are at their most receptive, in their middle teens.

The already hugely successful Young Driver programme is being rolled out to Manchester’s The Trafford Centre on 7th and 8th January, where it will be based permanently. Organisers believe that this world-class road safety concept will significantly reduce road accidents and ultimately save lives.

Sponsored by Admiral Insurance and SEAT UK, Young Driver teaches youngsters to drive in dual-control cars in a safe, legal environment. Professional instructors have been impressed by how focussed and determined teen learners have been, showing unprecedented commitment to taking driving seriously.

Motoring commentator, Quentin Willson approves, “I’ve put my 11 year-old son on the programme and I’ve never seen him concentrate so hard. Young Driver is a road safety revolution in the making and it is great news for Manchester that the programme is opening there.”

Using 200 new SEAT Ibizas, specially-designed driving zones and highly qualified instructors, the experience has been a massive hit amongst both teen drivers and parents. Lessons start at just £29.99 inc VAT.

Young Driver opened at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre in October 2009. Since then, over 35,000 lessons have been delivered at 15 UK venues including London, Glasgow, Dartford, Sheffield, Bristol and Birmingham.

Young Driver opens to the public for the first time at The Trafford Centre on Saturday 7th January 2012. Bookings can be taken immediately via the website www.youngdriver.eu or by telephone on 0844 371 9010.

Quotations:

Peter Rodger, The Institute of Advanced Motorists endorses Young Driver’s initiative: "It makes a great deal of sense to develop attitudes to driving and car use over a longer period, and to allow new drivers to develop them and the skills of controlling the car itself before they take to the road. Combining the two by educating young people below the age of 17 how to think about using the car as they gain the skills to operate it, and then allowing them to concentrate on how to interact with others on the road, and to manage what is outside the car as they gain experience when they start to learn to drive on the road should produce safer drivers in the long term".
