By Road

The Trafford Centre is conveniently located close to junctions 9 and 10 on the M60, making it very accessible to car users. The 10,000 free parking spaces are a huge draw to customers as they offer the convenience of on-site parking completely free of charge.

Exit to M60 southbound

The new exit road to the M60 southbound is now open, it's the swift way onto the motorway if you're leaving the Centre near Debenhams.

Vehicle messaging system

Car users entering the site are met with a Vehicle Messaging System that communicates messages about car park availability on site. This is extremely useful during peak trading seasons when the number of vehicles on site is at its highest and allows customers to find car parking spaces more easily.

Safe and secure

The Trafford Centre‘s car parks have been designed to offer a safe and secure environment for customers. The Centre has been awarded the Park Mark Award (previously called the Secure Car Park Award) every year since 1999. This award is initiated by The Association of Chief Police Officers and demonstrates a commitment to continuous progress in the reduction of car crime through a documented car park management system.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)

The Trafford Centre also invested in a state of the art Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system in 2003 to further improve the safety of the Centre. The initiative was launched in conjunction with Greater Manchester Police to detect and locate vehicles associated with crime.

The system utilises some of the most advanced technology in the world to identify stolen vehicles or those listed as wanted for a variety of crimes. Within seconds of entering the site, the registration of all vehicles are verified and checked against the Police National Computer. If a vehicle is recognised by the system an alarm is sounded in the Control Room and the police are contacted.

The presence of the ANPR system makes The Trafford Centre even safer for customers, retailers and employees as it acts as a deterrent to criminals who may be thinking of visiting the site.

Pedestrian access

The Trafford Centre is located within a dedicated network of walking and cycling paths across Trafford Park and beyond. Indeed, the first ever dedicated cycle lane in Greater Manchester was constructed in Trafford Park, along Barton Dock Road close to The Trafford Centre. Almost 42% of both staff and visitors live within five miles of The Trafford Centre - well within an easy cycling journey.

The Trafford Centre Travel Plan

We recognise that travel is an integral part of the overall experience of visiting and working at The Trafford Centre. That’s why we have already invested in a wide range of travel initiatives including a dedicated bus station with bus services to destinations throughout Greater Manchester, improved pedestrian and cycle paths around the Centre and a state-of the-art traffic system.

These measures have been a great success. We intend to continue to develop and support our travel initiatives at The Trafford Centre and build on our achievements to date. The Travel Plan is the next step; it will integrate and coordinate travel to the Centre and make all journeys easier, making the Centre accessible to even more people.

We are committed to the Travel Plan and hope that through the measurements proposed in the Plan and the development of future schemes such as Metrolink, we will be able to encourage even greater travel choice.
