T.G.I Fridays

Everyday's a Friday at TGI's

THE American-themed restaurant and bar TGI Fridays is already well-established both Stateside and in the UK - and now we've joined that success story with a new branch here at The Trafford Centre.

Taking our restaurant count to 61, The Trafford Centre branch is the 46th in the country and has already proved its success by welcoming a record number of diners to their funky interior.

On entering the restaurant, it’s clear the staff have taken on the American spin to customer service with a fun, brash and friendly attitude. Restaurant manager Adam told me: "Staff must be attentive with big personalities and the service we provide is much more personalised."

Filled with young couples or families, loud music, typical American décor and additional bar area offering over 115 cocktails, TGI’s certainly has that young American buzz.

Adam told me that TGI’s hold frequent fancy dress nights. For the American Thanksgiving holiday, TGI staff dress up in US-themed outfits to raise money for children’s charity ‘Make a Wish’. Servers donated their tips, and customers added to the fund at collection points.

After paying T.G.I’s a couple of visits I would confidently say their best dishes are burgers and ribs, and these meaty meals are very well suited to their famous Jack Daniels glaze rib coating. If that’s not your cup of tea, however, try a steak, pasta dish or something from the vegetarian options.

Children are more than welcome, with a different menu for both the younger and older kids.

TGI’s have other claims to fame; it is the chain that Tom Cruise filmed the movie T.G.I Fridays waiter making a cocktail ‘Cocktail’ in, and they are also the creators of the Long Island Ice Tea! As a lover of these myself, I wanted to know more, fortunately in addition to the 115 cocktails on offer, bar tenders are trained to do around 1200! The gorgeous strawberry margaritas are definitely one to try and watch made professionally in front of you as all staff are trained in ‘Flair’ (Cocktail Throwing and preparing).

At The Trafford Centre we have the North West England champion - who came 3rd in the global tournament! Check out his skills some weekend soon - and book yourself a taxi to get home, if the cocktails I tasted are anything to go by!
