As a private limited company, The Trafford Centre has the right to enforce its own policy on matters of lost and found property. Whilst a customer may wish to report the loss or finding of property to the local police, it is essential that The Trafford Centre follows its own procedures and that a record is maintained of all items of lost and found property at the Centre.

The following action will be taken when a report of lost or found property is made:

• All items reported to The Trafford Centre as lost are recorded by staff at the Customer Services Desk situated on the lower mall in the Main Dome
• All items reported found are recorded and the finder is given a copy of the form which shows a description of the item, the date and time it was found and details of the finder
• All found items are kept in secure storage within the Centre and remain the property of the Centre until claimed, or for a period of one month, whichever is longer
• Every attempt is made to identify the owner of the property and make contact with that person in the interim
• After the one month period any unclaimed goods are donated to a local charity.
• Unclaimed perishable goods are disposed of at the close of each Centre trading day. (This includes any food receptacle i.e. bottles, food boxes etc)
• Trafford Centre retailers are encouraged to deliver found property to the Customer Services Desk to centralise the function, however retailers are under no obligation to do so, and some will operate their own procedures.
