In 2006 The Trafford Centre welcomed just over 30 million visitors and the number of visitors has increased every year since the Centre opened in 1998 when it attracted 23 million visitors.

The catchment area for the Centre is larger and more populous than any other regional shopping centre and comprises 5.3 million people within a 45-minute drive-time.

  • The majority of the visitors are female (73%) but the Centre also attracts a high number of male customers (27%)
  • 68% of visitors to The Trafford Centre are ABC1 socio-demographic profile, indicating an affluent customer base
  • The average spend per visitor group is over £100
  • 66% of the visitors are from Greater Manchester, 21% are from neighbouring areas such as Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside, and 12% are from further afield
  • The Centre has a very loyal customer base with 20% of visitors visiting the Centre once a week or more often and 38% of visitors visiting 1-2 times a month.
