Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital opened in June 2009 and is home to state-of-the-art facilities that have been designed with its young patients very much in mind.

The Trafford Centre staff and customers have so far raised more than £56,000 towards eight vital haemodialysis machines, with collections and sponsored events.

Your cash will help Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity to make life a little easier for patients and their families who use the hospital. The charity has three main areas of work:

  • to support research projects to improve our understanding of children’s illnesses
  • to help to create an environment that’s more child-friendly
  • to provide state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and treatment.

The hospital treats children from as far north as Cumbria, down to Stoke and across to North Wales. In addition, the hospital is a national centre of excellence in the following areas:

  • bone marrow transplantation, for which it is the main centre outside of London
  • burns treatment - the hospital houses the largest paediatric burns unit in the country
  • critical care – the hospital’s paediatric intensive care unit is the largest in the country, looking after patients ranging from newborn babies to 16-year-olds.
