Charity abseil

On 12 September dozens of intrepid fundraisers dropped from the top of Barton Square campanile at The Trafford Centre, in a bid to raise funds for the New Children's Hospital Appeal.

The plucky abseilers first scaled hundreds of steps to the summit of the 220ft Trafford landmark, before their stomach-churning descent to the crowds below.


BRAVE: Beaverbrooks employee Amanda Hill, aged 27, from Atherton found her fairy wings were no use, 220ft above the Trafford landscape.

Alison Reid, community development manager at The Trafford Centre, said: "We had almost 50 people taking part in the abseil, from across The Trafford Centre and its retailers.
